The top 10 most dangerous groups in the world based on terrorist and rebel activity over the past 30 days as of 10 Nov. 2015 are shown with their GTI rankings and score. Up-to-the-minute GTI rankings for all groups are contained in the IntelCenter Database (ICD).

 Intel Center's Group Threat Index (GTI) examines the volume of terrorist and rebel alerts, messaging traffic, videos, photos, incidents and the number killed and injured by a group over the past 30 days and runs it through an algorithm to assign the group its GTI. The higher the GTI the greater the risk posed by the group. The GTI should never be the sole measure of threat posed by a group but rather one factor to take into consideration.

There are a total of 68 groups with a GTI greater than zero. The average GTI for these groups is 47. The Global GTI is 3,218.

Methodology Note:
The Group Threat Index (GTI) is just one metric for tracking the activity of terrorist and rebels as it relates to the threat they pose. It should never be the only measure for assessing the threat posed by a group. When calculating the GTI only attacks directly attributed to a specific group are counted. For example, while most attacks in a region may be believed to be executed by group X. They are only counted if the group actually claims the attack or other statements directly attribute the attack to group X. In some regions this often results in an underreporting of actual attacks done by that group. A low GTI does not necessarily reflect the absence of a threat as al-Qaeda in the lead-up to 9-11 would have had a low GTI. It does, however, reflect a lower level of activity over the preceding 30 days which means high-volume activity is unlikely but one-off events are always a possibility. The Global GTI is arrived at by adding up each individual group's GTI. It serves as an overall indicator of global terrorist and rebel activity. Each group's live up-to-the-minute GTI
ranking along with all data used to arrive at the GTI is available in the IntelCenter Database (ICD).
IntelCenter is continuously adding new material to the ICD, including historical data to enhance the accuracy of the GTI and other data points. In order to have the most accurate information, please always refer to the latest data available in the ICD.
