Police spokesperson, Emmanuel Ojukwu told AFP:
"They blew up the thing with dynamite."
Punch reports that the attack occurred on Monday, November 3 and 144 inmates escaped while AFP reports that the attack occurred on Sunday with 132 prisoners escaping the facility.
The attack has reportedly been confirmed by the Controller of the prison but it is not yet clear who carried out the attack.
